Since March 1999, Joy of Ireland has been serving a proper cup of tea along with your choice of scones, brown bread and soda breadbaked, frozen and flown to Chicago from Ireland! (Anything else just wouldn't do!) Our Irish and British customers swear that we are the only place in all of Chicago where you can get such a "cuppa" tea. Located in the front of our Michigan Avenue store, the Joy of Ireland Tea Room & Café features a 45-foot long, panoramic window that offers a spectacular view of Chicago's "Magnificent Mile." Quite frankly, we think there's no better place to rest your feet and enjoy the sights of downtown Chicago than in the comfort and atmosphere of our tea room. In July 1999, we added a lunch menu to the tea room thanks to the efforts of Chef Paul Pszybylski. Paul was trained at the famed Le Cordon Bleu French cooking school and brings his 5-star training to the Joy of Ireland. (See our menu below.)
The Joy of Ireland Tea Room & Cafˇ maintains a no-tipping policy. (We pay our wait staff a fair wage so that they do not have to rely on tips.) Instead, we collect money for various charitable organizations that help people in our local community, as well as communities in Ireland. With the generosity of our patrons, we have raised $1100 for Concern, a charity based in Ireland, $2500 for Miseracordia, a local Chicago charity and $1400 for Croí, a Heart Unit in Galway, Ireland. In addition, we are currently supporting the United Ireland Fund. If you have a charity that you would like us to consider promoting, please contact co-owner Michael Joy.
