Extracurricular Work — Celtic Clipart

   Celtic Hounds

The following pieces are my first installment to what I hope will be an ever-growing collection of Celtic digital art. Some work here is original, while much is adapted from existing sources, specifically George Bain's  Celtic Art: The Methods of Construction (Dover Publications).

For additional Celtic art resources, see my links page.

Brú na Bóinne (Newgrange) Spirals

This design — based on stone carvings found on the portal stone of the 5000 year-old Newgrange passage mound in Co. Meath, Ireland— is appropriate for website backgrounds or desktop wallpaper. Larger tiles for desktop use are provided. (I've found that the smaller tile size can actually take overtax slower CPUs.)

Kells Key Pattern

According to George Bain, this design is found in the Book of Kells (Plate IV "Studio") and is similar to that of the Farr Stone in Sutherlandshire. Once again, larger tiles for desktop use are provided.

Celtic Hounds

Adapted from George Bain, this tile is prepared for use in a single line rather than an all-over or desktop application.
